Our future depends on the survival of our planet |
|
A Green Environment, Green Food, Green Energy as well as Green Behaviours
and Habits will be the key drivers in the future for sustainable living.
Thus, creating an awareness of the rising global demand for Green Education,
Green Skills and a new generation of Green-collar workers among our youth,
is important.
Having realized these limitless prospects, the growing Green revolution
and its relevance to the progressive development of Sri Lankan youth,
the organizers of EDEX took an important initiative to support ‘GO GREEN’
as a core value in the year 2008/2009,

Our Vision |
To Educate, Engage, and Activate the Sri Lankan youth on sustainable living. |

Think Green Focus |
When it comes to sustainable living, ‘Think Green’ focus is on 5 main areas |
| |
| Water |
- |
Earth is 2/3rds water, but fresh water sources represent
only 0.01%. Water is a basic need without which life cannot survive.
With today’s growing population and development this scarce resource is under server pressure
|
| |
|
|
| Energy |
- |
Modern life demands intense energy use, from cooking,
commuting, to running the machines that help our lives and the most
sources of energy are harmful to the environment
|
| |
|
|
| Food |
- |
As populations grow at rates the earth has never
experienced, we place more stress on land and water for food. The
pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals used in agriculture
pollute the same food, land and water
|
| |
|
|
| Transport |
- |
Transport using fossil fuel is considered one of
the main contributors to climate change. The increasing number of
cars on the road and air travel each year is only making it worse
|
| |
|
|
| Waste |
- |
Humans dump 16 billion tons of waste into the oceans
each year. Solid waste is not only hazardous to our health but also
pollute our soil and water
